Manchester United paid heavily more for Bruno Fernandes, as claimed by Sporting’s Vice President, the Portuguese midfielder completed his move.
After a lengthy chase, Manchester United finally signed Bruno Fernandes in this transfer window. The Portuguese International even made his debut appearance for the club before the Premier League break.
His first performance looked positive and Manchester United fans are hoping that he settles in the Premier League quickly and deliver results.
While Manchester United fans are happy with their new signing but at the same time there is no doubt that the Red Devils unnecessarily delayed the signing in an attempt to bargain and in the end they had to pay the demands of Sporting and Fernandes came in 6 months late.
In an interview with Expresso, Sporting CP’s Vice President Francisco Salgado Zenha made a huge revelation, as he stated that the English giants paid €20 million more because of their stubbornness in the summer transfer window.
“I realized in the negotiations that Manchester United was convinced that we were going to give in and that for 50 million euros he was doing the deal. devils were playing with a “certain desperation” that the lions could show.
“I have no doubts. But they were wrong. And they ended up paying what we wanted. We went to get 20 million more than if we had sold four months ago.” said Salgado Zenha.
Manchester United’s board has constantly been criticized for their poor transfer activities. Even Harry Maguire came costlier to them as they earlier denied to pay the initial price asked by Leicester City in 2018.
