BBL 2020-21: Delhi Capitals’ Keemo Paul joins Hobart Hurricanes for Big Bash League 2020-21

Keemo Paul joins Hobart Hurricanes: The West Indian all-rounder is all set for a maiden stint in the Big Bash League 2020-21.

West Indies all-rounder Keemo Paul has become the latest name to have signed for his maiden stint in the forthcoming season of the Big Bash League.

Paul, 22, has represented West Indies in three Test matches and 37 white-ball encounters in his just over 30-month international career. With an experience of playing in the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League and the Global T20 Canada, Paul will now play for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 2020-21.

Much like his West Indian teammate in Nicholas Pooran, Paul won’t be requiring to undergo a mandatory quarantine period upon his arrival in Australia from New Zealand.

Paul, who had played eight matches for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019, didn’t find a place in the Playing XI during the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League. However, his head coach and former Hurricanes and Australian captain in Ricky Ponting seems to have played a role in Paul’s signing with Hobart.

“I am really excited to be joining Hobart for the upcoming BBL, and I am very grateful for the opportunity,” Paul said in a statement. “I have always been a big BBL fan and an avid watcher of the tournament, and I cannot wait to join up with the Hurricanes group.

“I have spoken to Ricky [Ponting] here at the IPL about Hobart and Tasmania, and he has spoken really positively about the team and the competition. I also caught up with Griff [Adam Griffith, head coach of Hobart Hurricanes] after our [IPL] game recently, and it was great to hear more about the very exciting squad this year,” Paul added.

In another development, Melbourne Stars have signed 21-year old Afghanistan spinner Zahir Khan to further strengthen their spin-bowling attack which already comprises of Adam Zampa, Tom O’Connell, Clint Hinchliffe and captain Glenn Maxwell.
