Daniel Sams cricketer: Watch Delhi Capitals all-rounder gets brutally hit on the helmet in Heat vs Thunder BBL 10 match
Daniel Sams: The all-rounder from Sydney Thunder got hit on the helmet for the second time this season at the Gabba.
During the 28th match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder in Brisbane, Sydney Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams was at the receiving end of a nasty short delivery for the second time this season.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 16th over when Sams’ attempt to pull a short delivery from Brisbane Heat fast bowler Jack Wildermuth saw him getting hit on the helmet.
Failing to make any connection with the ball, Sams immediately received medical attention as is the procedure nowadays. The 28-year old player continued to bat after undergoing the concussion-related procedure.
Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 13th over, Sams contributed with the bat yet again as his 37 (18) with the help of three fours and two sixes played a crucial role in Thunder posting 174/8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Following captain Callum Ferguson’s (35) decision to bat first after winning the toss, Thunder opening batsman Alex Hales top-scored for them with his 46 (26) inclusive of three fours and as many sixes.
With bowling figures of 4-0-26-2, Heat spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of their bowlers. In addition to two wickets, Mujeeb also grabbed catches to dismiss Usman Khawaja (0) and Sams and even ran out Sam Billings (22) off his own bowling.
