“It’s good to have George managing with Sebastian” – Romain Grosjean pleased to have Russell as GPDA successor
“It’s good to have George managing with Sebastian” – Outgoing director Romain Grosjean is happy with the appointment of George Russell in the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association.
The Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, or GPDA, is a group for the welfare and safety of F1 drivers. Alexander Wurz, the former F1 driver, is the chairman while Sebastian Vettel is a long-standing director.
This year, after Romain Grosjean moved to IndyCar, the representatives appointed Russell and Anastasia Fowle (first non-driver) as the replacements. Russell’s appointment has pleased Grosjean, as he represents the younger generation of upcoming F1 stars.
“It’s good to have George managing with Sebastian in the GPDA. I’m still in contact with them, still part of it as a non-member [to discuss] safety issues, a few things.
“We have a WhatsApp group so I’m still in there, still giving my feedback also from my outside window. I can watch it from the outside and you see things slightly differently, which is a good asset to have.
“I think George was the right guy. We needed a youngster to be on board, to bring in new ideas, a new vision. Between Sebastian and George is, what, 10 or 15 years’ difference, which on track is not much but in life it’s a bit.”

Romain Grosjean offers track limits solution
The Frenchman has given the same solution as Christian Horner and many others – putting gravel outside the track. The track limits have taken the steam out of Max Verstappen’s title challenge and is something the FIA should revisit with the GPDA.
“Put some gravel or some grass outside of the track and then we won’t worry about track limits!”
