IND vs SL Man of the Series today: Who won the Man of the Series in Sri Lanka vs India ODI series in Colombo?

IND vs SL Man of the Series: The Indian batsman won the Man of the Series award in a series in which he made his ODI debut.

During the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Sri Lanka in Colombo, India beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the three-match series. Having said that, the visitors failed to whitewash the hosts as the latter won the last ODI by 3 wickets.

Chasing a 227-run target in a 47-over contest, Sri Lanka thrived on the back of a match-winning 109-run partnership for the second wicket between Avishka Fernando (76) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (65) before Ramesh Mendis (15 not out) and Akila Dananjaya (5 not out) sealed the chase in the 39th over.

A series victory for India means that they have successfully maintained their unbeaten record in a bilateral ODI series in Sri Lanka since 1997. While Sri Lanka have won many multi-format series involving India since then, they haven’t defeated India in a bilateral series in the last 24 years.

In the third ODI, Sri Lanka batsman Avishka Fernando was declared the ‘Man of the Match‘. As far as the ‘Man of the Series’ award is concerned, it was bagged by India batsman Suryakumar Yadav.

In the three matches that he played in Colombo, Yadav scored 124 runs at an average and strike rate of 62 and 122.77 respectively to be the second-highest run-scorer for India and fourth-highest overall.

“I think I have been doing the same thing for last two years. I wanted to score big in the last two games but I am learning. The atmosphere in the camp is really positive. Really looking forwards to the T20I series,” Yadav said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
