“I put my signature under that thing”– Nico Rosberg on email Mercedes submitted to FIA for Lewis Hamilton defense but governing body called it non-existing
“I put my signature under that thing”– Nico Rosberg talks about the document Mercedes recently submitted to FIA for Lewis Hamilton’s defence.
FIA created a laughing stir on Mercedes when they called their email, which was supposed to serve as evidence to support Lewis Hamilton’s innocence in max Verstappen’s crash as “non-existing” rules.
It was further revealed that FIA issued an informal guidebook to Mercedes when the team wanted to have a harmonious working environment between Nico Rosberg and Hamilton on track.
Rosberg has now commented on the whole issue and talks about his team working under that stylebook. He eventually called it an intense time.
“Of course I saw it, I put my signature under that thing!” Rosberg explained to Sky Sports. “So, yes, that was a pretty intense time and I didn’t know that it was a part of the recent debate as well but I know every single detail!”
“It’s just about the positioning of the car versus the other car, whose corner it is, who has the right of way and things like that, it’s very detailed, and it’s useful for the stewards to be able to judge battles in situations like that.”
Red Bull had all the right.
When asked about Red Bull petitioning for the review to increase the harshness of the penalty, which the FIA later foiled because of no new evidence, Rosberg said Red Bull was absolutely correct in their approach.
“Yes, I mean come on, if they think that the penalty should have been worse then yes, why not try and see if you can get another step on that? The problem is though that apparently they went below the waistline.”

“You know, they went into an area where it’s not fair and respectful anymore and that’s kind of the debate. That must not happen, of course, but we don’t know the exact wording, so it’s a bit difficult.”
