Michael Neser returns to Brisbane Heat: The Australian fast bowler has returned to his home club for the 11th season of BBL.

It’s a homecoming for Australia fast bowler Michael Neser as far the 11th season of the Big Bash League is concerned. Neser, who had made his BBL debut for Brisbane Heat in the inaugural season of the tournament, will represent the club for the second time later this year.

Having picked seven wickets in six matches at an average of 23.71, an economy rate of 7.90 and a strike rate of 18 in his maiden season, Neser then moved to Adelaide Strikers and ended up playing in eight seasons for them.

Neser, who has spent a large part of his career at Strikers, made his ODI debut and came close to making his Test debut in the same period. In 62 matches for Adelaide, Neser’s 62 wickets have come at an average of 26.95, an economy rate of 8.34 and a strike rate of 19.39.

Neser, 31, is a teammate of Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne at Glamorgan in County cricket. Having recently returned to Australia, Neser had picked  23 wickets in five first-class matches at an average and strike rate of 16.78 and 33.1 respectively.

Speaking in a statement published on Heat’s website, Neser expressed gratitude towards Adelaide Strikers and revealed that he is keen on playing for Queensland and Brisbane this year.

“I enjoyed my time with the Strikers and have got a lot of good friends at the club. It goes without saying that I am grateful for the opportunities I received there.

“Coming back to the Heat feels right though, and after being away in England for a while, I am very keen to get into the season, firstly with the Queensland Bulls and then with Brisbane,” Neser said in a statement.

“You always get 100 percent from Michael, whether it’s with bat or the ball in the field, or as one of your senior players off the field. Both Darren Lehmann and I were very keen to get Michael back to Queensland for the Heat when the opportunity came up, and he is a very important recruit for us,” Brisbane head coach Wade Seccombe said in a statement.
