WATCH: Wayne Rooney scores from inside his own half against West Ham
Wayne Rooney’s return to his boyhood club has been nothing short of a fairytale, but until last night, Rooney was struggling to set the stage on fire in a Blue shirt, struggling to get the kind of service he was used to at Old Trafford.
And Wayne Rooney’s lack of goals has coincided with Everton’s downfall this season, as the ‘Toffees’ have found it extremely difficult to break teams down and find those crunch wins against mid-table sides.
But last night was different. An imminent change in the coaching and managerial staff had apparently brought in a positive vibe, which reverberated across the Everton dressing room.
On a Wednesday night, against Swansea, where everyone thought Everton would find it difficult to stamp their authority, but Wayne Rooney led Everton’s charge in style, completely blowing away the Swans with a stellar hattrick.
While the game started with a missed penalty for Rooney, he was quick to latch onto the rebound to score a header and give Everton the lead. The second goal was a neat finish too but it was the third one that was the most talked about, and probably could be for the next few weeks.

That strike from inside his own half will probably go down as the goal of the season, and Wayne Rooney himself conceded after the game that it was probably his best goal ever, and that he had hit the ball as well as he ever has.
Here’s to hoping that Wayne Rooney and Everton find their way up in the coming few weeks.
