Daniel Ricciardo to stay at Red Bull
Daniel Ricciardo admits that he is out of options for a potential move out of Red Bull, as both Ferrari and Mercedes seem like sticking to their present set of drivers for the next season.
Ricciardo initially felt that he would have takers from either Mercedes and Ferrari and hence was stalling contract talks with Red Bull.
However, over the course of the last two months, he slowly experienced how the driver market wasn’t actually functioning like how it was in his head.
Neither Mercedes nor Ferrari were dying for his signature and that has led to him admitting that he is certain to stay at Red Bull, with only the details left to be finalised.
“It is obviously looking more and more likely I will remain,” said Riccardo.
“But there still hasn’t been pen to paper and we are just trying to get a few last things sorted.”
Bottas and Hamilton are certain to be at Mercedes for next season and Ferrari have lined up Charles Leclerc as the replacement for Kimi Raikkonen, if they decide to push Kimi away(or Kimi himself decides to leave).
“Not every door has closed but it is looking more and more likely that the other teams will remain with their line-ups,” said Ricciardo.
“I don’t have the facts on that but you can read between the lines.
“If it wasn’t Red Bull, they are the two most attractive options. So if they are not possible it’s hard for me to be convinced there is a better option than Red Bull.” he added.
Ricciardo will thus be at the forefront of the new Honda era at Red Bull, and if that partnership backfires, we could see Ricciardo retire without a world title under his belt.
