Arsenal get green light for N’Zonzi signing
France international Steven N’Zonzi has been linked with a transfer away from Sevilla this summer. The 29 year old has played an integral part in his three years at the club and is now looking to taste greener pastures. Arsenal and Barcelona are two clubs who were interested in the midfielder but the latter has pulled the plug on its target.
Sevilla are now sure that it’s in the best of interests of both parties to let N’Zonzi depart. The club based out of Andalusia has asked Arsenal- who are main negotiators- to pay a fee of €40 million.
The Gunners’ new boss Unai Emery is an admirer of the Frenchman with whom he spent a season and won the Europa League in 2016 during his tenure at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
While Sevilla are aware of the fact that it is going to be inevitable for Steven N’Zonzi to leave the club, they are not willing to let the player go below the stated price. Nevertheless, they have given the green light to N’Zonzi for discussing personal with his potential club.
There is one alternative that Arsenal can work out to bring down the transfer fee. From the €40 million, there was going to be a share worth €5 million that would the player’s father will be debited with. If N’Zonzi’s father is fine with that condition, then the signing of his son should not be for Arsenal.
Steven N’Zonzi has worthy experience of Premier League football. He was on the rosters of Blackburn Rovers as well as Stoke City in the earlier part of his career.
Having won the World Cup with France around ten days ago, he is now on holiday. He would hope that the next step of his career is decided before his vacation ends.
