Everton hopeful of completing deal for Marcos Rojo before transfer deadline
Everton are inching closer towards a move for Manchester United’s defender Marcos Rojo.
The Argentine defender starred for the national team in the World Cup where his goal in the closing minutes of the game ensured a round-of-16 spot for Argentina. However, he was then humbled by Kylian Mbappe in the knock-out match, where the Frenchman outpaced him by huge margins, forcing Rojo to concede a penalty.
Even when Manchester United have not made a single signing to bolster their central defence, the reports emerge that Everton are set to acquire the services of Marcos Rojo. Rojo signed a new contract with Manchester United in March this year, keeping him at the club until 2021.
Rojo, although, has only made two starts for Manchester United ever since. Telegraph reports that the Merseyside club is hopeful that a deal can be finalised for the transfer of the Manchester United star before the transfer deadline next week.
According to Manchester Evening News, the club has asked Marcos Rojo to report at Manchester and not join the team in United States, where they are currently participating in the International Champions Cup. MEN also reports that the deal for Rojo could amount to £30m.

Jose Mourinho is seemingly not happy with the Manchester United board for the lack of transfers, and voiced his concerns after his side’s 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in the pre-season. While United is linked with players like Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld, a deal for any of the two looks very unlikely at the moment.
“I would like two more players. I don’t think I’m going to have two. I think it’s possible I’m going to have one,” said Jose during the press conference.
“I gave my club a list of five names a few months ago. I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players,” he added.
