Lewis Hamilton Could Resort to Ferrari Hail Mary To Complete F1 Idol Ayrton Senna’s Legacy
The idea of Lewis Hamilton in Red has been an image propagated far and wide. Many reasons add to this theory. Mercedes have failed their driver in many ways over the last two years, with cracks showing in their relationship. Further, the F1 belief that every driver dreams of a round in Ferrari, including Hamilton’s earlier statements to do so, has fueled the raging fire.
Could Hamilton really end his career without Mercedes overalls? A legacy and image synonymous with the word ‘dominance’ in this sport; could Hamilton really give it all away without one more title with the Silver Arrows?
The theory continues, as now a new factor gets thrown in the mix- honorary Brazilian citizen Lewis Hamilton’s undying love for Senna. Though being a fanboy shouldn’t be reason enough to end over a decade-long bond, a little nudge and an additional point under the pros column don’t hurt.
Lewis Hamilton touted to fulfill Senna’s dream
Hamilton has been a hardcore Senna fan since his childhood. And now, with all the hubbub around a hypothetical move to Ferrari, former F1 driver Gerhard Berger gives his take. A former Ferrari driver himself, Berger believes that Senna’s incomplete story with the team could push Hamilton to the Prancing Horses.
Reminding everyone of the age-old saying: “Every driver wants to drive for Ferrari at least once,” Berger also added, “and almost all the good ones have been there.” Further, Berger explained that winning wouldn’t be a question at Ferrari. With a red car under the expertise of Hamilton and the speed he brings, surely the tables will turn for both parties.

Thus, Hamilton is urged to think like his great idol. “Ayrton Senna did not go to the Scuderia because he thought: ‘I will never be able to win there’. Maybe Lewis thinks so too.” Analyzing the situation, Berger breaks it down plain and simple. If Mercedes fails their champion with yet another uncompetitive car, he would look elsewhere. Red Bull is hardly an option; making the Maranello outfit the next best thing.
Taking a peep into Hamilton’s mentality, Berger added, “He might think: ‘I don’t want to quit yet, I want to try again with Ferrari’ .”
Both Mercedes and Hamilton have refused to give any hints on his future. However, if last season was any lesson, big plot twists are bound to happen in F1. With people holding their cards close to their chests, the question remains: What is Lewis Hamilton’s game plan?
