Twitter reacts as Manchester United ease past Leicester City in the first league game

Manchester United beat Leicester City 2-0 to kick-start their Premier League campaign.

Paul Pogba led the Manchester United team out on the first match-day of the season, and the Frenchman shined in their victory against Leicester City. The World Cup winner gave United an early lead in the first half through a penalty, and the lead was doubled late in the second half as Luke Shaw scored his first ever goal in front of the Stretford End.

Jamie Vardy pulled one back in the extra time, but it was too little, too late for Leicester City as United held their nerves to emerge victorious.

The midfield three of Fred, Pogba and Andreas Pereira shined for United, but the same cannot be said about the front three. Alexis in particular looked like a shadow of his pre-season self, while Juan Mata also looked out of place throughout the match.

In the defence, both Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof had a solid game, while Luke Shaw’s attacking tendencies ultimately rewarded him with a goal in the second half.

Manchester United will now face Brighton at the Falmer Stadium.
