Sokratis injured: Gunners star could be ruled out a few weeks with knee injury after picking up the injury against Everton.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos picked up a knee injury during Arsenal’s weekend fixture against Everton, one that forced the new Arsenal recruit to be substituted within the first 40 minutes of the game.

Sokratis has been a regular for Arsenal this season after making the move from Borussia Dortmund.

The Greek International had played every minute for Arsenal before the injury and has been pivotal to Emery’s style of play.

The extent of Sokratis’ injury isn’t known yet and according to Emery tests on Monday will determine the repercussions of the knee injury and how long would Sokratis be out of action.

Sokratis has formed a very good partnership with Mustafi in the last 4 weeks, helping Arsenal rack up 4 crucial victories after a disastrous start to the campaign, losing to both City and Chelsea in the first two weeks of the new season.

“We don’t know now but the first analysis is that the doctors will wait until tomorrow. It’s his knee but I’m hoping it’s not too serious.” Emery said.

Now, with the tests scheduled for today, one would assume that Sokratis would miss Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash against Brentford and could miss the all important weekend clash against Watford as well.

Watford have started the season on a high but came out short against Manchester United and then drew away against Fulham.

Emery and the Arsenal fans would be hoping for Sokratis to come up to full speed for the Watford clash, else Emery will have to look for a new centre back pairing.

From the looks of it, Sokratis could be out for a few weeks and Arsenal might have to get going without his services.
