Xavi to get UEFA pro-license: Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi is set to enter football coaching.

Barcelona’s former midfielder Xavi Hernandez has revealed that he is set to get his UEFA pro-license.

Xavi is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia and played almost all his career at the Catalan club, before making a switch to Qatari side Al-Sadd in 2015.

The Spanish midfielder made his Barcelona debut in 1998, and made 767 appearances for the club. During his time at Barcelona, he won numerous domestic, continental and inter-continental honors, both with club and individually.

And now, the midfielder has revealed that he is set to enter coaching, as he expects to receive a UEFA pro-license next year. With this license, he can come back to Barcelona as a coach as well.

Xavi to get UEFA pro-license

In an interview with TV3, Xavi confirmed that he is expecting the license next year. However, he has cautioned that he is not yet ready for a job like Barcelona.

Many Barcelona fans have earlier piped him to be the club’s next Pep Guardiola.

“Now I can coach in small countries, but next year, in May, I hope to get the UEFA Pro license to be able to coach any team,” Xavi told TV3.

“As a player, it was the same, people expect things from me prematurely, like when I was said to be the ‘new Guardiola’ and I still don’t see it.

“Now it’s the same, I do not see myself as a fully-formed coach yet. We must be patient.

If I could bring players from past I would bring back Puyol and Xavi. That’s it. We would win everything every year. We have good players now, but bad coach. With Puyol you don’t even need one. He is there to kick Pique’s ass when he’s out of form. Xavi’s mind to control mf. Ahh

“I do not like to be a protagonist, but when you play at Barca, you’re the protagonist. Now I have more time for everything, before I could not, because since I was 16 I’ve been a professional footballer, and even if you are a minor, you have to take care of yourself and so on. It has been a great tension for many years.”

What next?

Xavi may have said that he is not ready for Barcelona, but he has set his feet in the coaching world. There is no reason to believe that Xavi will not be aiming to return to his former club.
