Iker Casillas heart attack: Victor Valdes pens an emotional letter to former national teammate as the latter recovers from the heart ailment.

Few days ago, veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered a heart-attack, which shocked the football fraternity and led to thousands of messages pouring in from Gareth Bale to Tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

The Porto goalkeeper is reportedly in a stable condition but the heart attack could force Casillas to hang his boots.

Amid several messages to the legendary goalkeeper, one special message is from Victor Valdes. In which, Casillas’ compatriot in a letter requested him to retire and focus on his health.

Valdes being his deputy in the Spanish national team for so many years, surely holds an emotional connection over here.

The heartfelt letter on instagram gathered attention as the ex-Barcelona star reminisced on the experiences shared between the two, from rivals at the club level to teammates for Spain.

“Dear Iker, dear friend. You are and always will be one of those who was born with a glove on either hand. An idol that the other less capable focus on, dreaming that one day they can lift, like you, the trophy that recognises you as the best, our world champion with the number one on his back.

“It is your legacy that defines you, and this is already history. Always in my thoughts, from keeper to keeper. The double. V.V.”

What’s next for Iker Casillas?

Casillas have a contract with Porto till June, 2020. However, his health concerns after the heart-attack can possibly end his career.
