Twitter reactions on New Zealand’s win vs Bangladesh: Twitter was exhilarated after New Zealand won the cliffhanger at The Oval.

During the ninth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Bangladesh and New Zealand at The Oval, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 2 wickets to register their second consecutive victory in the tournament.

Having said that, New Zealand’s 245-run chase wasn’t the most simplest of chases for them. An 105-run partnership for the third wicket between captain Kane Williamson (40) and veteran batsman Ross Taylor (82) had put the Kiwis in a strong position to win the match.

However, wickets falling at regular intervals saw them match converting into a nerve-wrenching contest. It were New Zealand’s bowlers who stood tall with the bat in hand. While the required run rate was never really a concern for them, wickets definitely were.

All-rounder Mitchell Santner (17) and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson (4) played sensibly to seal the chase in the 48th over. Taylor, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the 11th over top-scored for New Zealand with his 48th ODI half-century. With bowling figures of 8-0-33-2, Mosaddek Hossain was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh.

After Williamson won the toss and put Bangladesh in to bat, they got bundled out for 244 in 49.2 overs. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the ninth over, top-scored for Bangladesh scoring 64 (68) with the help of seven fours. With bowling figures of 9.2-0-47-4, Matt Hardy for the highest wicket-taker for New Zealand.
