History will remember AB de Villiers as one of the greatest entertainers in the history of the game. The South African maverick has redefined batting in the modern era, as his array of stroke play draws gasps of amazement from everyone watching.

Over the years, AB has also become a big attraction in the IPL, as his exploits with RCB have become the stuff of legends. People still talk about his two separate onslaughts in fellow countryman, Dale Steyn.

At the time, Steyn was at the peak of his powers as the premier fast bowler in the world. On both occasions, AB smashed Styen to all parts of the Chinnaswamy stadium, as the world just marveled at the genius of ABD.

Even Dale Steyn gave a wry smiled and applauded the champion batsman!

AB has been a crucial part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side over the years, and has also been retained by Bengaluru outfit for the upcoming IPL auction.

But now we come to know that there was a really good chance that De Villiers would be not be participating in the 2018 IPL season.

Cricket South Africa were initially looking to put conditions on their players’ availability in the tournament as there was a stand off between CSA and BCCI.

The dates for the ongoing India-South Africa series were not decided for a long time, as BCCI stalled for a very long time.

CSA President Haroon Lorgat was not happy with the Indian board, as he wanted a quick answer, as only then would he confirm the participation of South African players.

“I didn’t even bother to communicate. We will communicate when the time is right,” Johri told the Times of India.

Eventually BCCI and CSA came in an agreement, and we got the go ahead for the likes of Faf du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada and AB de Villiers to take part in the IPL.
