Why is Shaquille O’Neal fighting at Dynamite on weekly television instead of the AEW Revolution pay per view scheduled to be held a few days later?
Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet issued a challenge to Shaquille O’Neal and Jade Cargill last week. AEW confirmed the mixed tag team match on Beach Break this week. Instead of scheduling the fight on AEW Revolution as many speculated however, the match will take place on Dynamite a few days earlier.

This has caused some confusion among fans. Many believe that this could have been a marquee match for AEW Revolution. However, it seems that the decision was made due to Shaquille O’Neal’s unavailability on the date of the pay per view.
Why is Shaquille O’Neal fighting at Dynamite instead of AEW Revolution?
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Shaq would miss out on AEW revolution due to a scheduling conflict. The NBA All Star game takes place on the same day of the pay per view. This is why AEW had to compromise with their booking of the match.
“March 7th is the All-Star game, so he couldn’t do the pay-per-view because it’s the same day as the All-Star game, so it’s gonna be on Dynamite,” Meltzer said. “If nothing else one would think this would draw a good television rating.”
This will not be Shaq’s first time in a Wrestling ring. He was part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 32. A showdown between him and Big Show was teased during the match. Unfortunately, the angle went nowhere.
Both parties have since blamed the other for nothing materialising out of the staredown between the two humongous athletes. AEW now have a chance to showcase Shaq the wrestler to the world and many will wait with bated breath.
