Ajax invited Juventus to Johan Cruyff Arena to play Champions League Quarterfinals. These two European heavyweights met for the first time in 14 times in the history of the competition and it has been a thriller till the half an hour mark in the first leg.

The hosts started the game on a high and had a glaring chance in the 20th minute. The attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek made an excellent turn to get past Rugani inside the penalty box, but his bad touch let him down and failed to hit the target from a panicked shot. The Dutch outfit kept on banging on the door of Juventus’ defence, but the Old Lady’s defence stood strong to keep out everything.

The visitors looked dangerous through the break and opened the scoring through their record signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the 45th minute to lead the game. The forward made a long bursting run and scored a fabulous header.

One minute after the second half whistle, Ajax winger David Neres made an excellent run and drifted inside the penalty box. The Brazilian International ran past two to three players with such ease and found the bottom corner of the goal to hand over no chance for Wojciech Szczęsny. The Polish International tried to get past it, but the ball was beautifully curling in from a very tough angle.
