Manchester United are in dire straits. They have failed to score more than once in a single match and have found it extremely hard to string consecutive victories. Most damning is their inability to win away from home.
This is not the Manchester United that struck fear among their oppositions and the players at the club are not the generational talents the club was once famous for. Instead they now have players who mess up the simplest of acts in the game.

Despite enjoying 69% possession, United could only manage to shoot thrice on target; the same number Newcastle notched despite only having 31% possession. It has become a running joke now that to beat United all you need to do is let them have the ball.
However, watching Fred play the way he did tonight, helps provide answers as to why United found it so hard to launch a proper attack. The Brazilian, who United purchased for 52 million, made a mess of a simple pass leaving Pereira absolutely shocked and seething.

The amount of times Fred lost possession reached double figures by the end of the night. It should come as no surprise that he has only started one league game this season.
United face Liverpool next. Such mistakes will definitely prove costly against the European champions who will not be as forgiving as Newcastle. Solskjaer will hope that his boys pull their socks up before the upcoming contest against their heated rivals.
