Andy Robertson slip vs Chelsea: Robertson almost did a Steven Gerrard against Chelsea

Andy Robertson slip vs Chelsea: The Liverpool defender almost committed a howler in the closing minutes of the game against the Blues.

Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-0 in a significant Premier League clash earlier tonight.

With this win, Liverpool has taken a major step in their bid for a first-ever Premier League title. Chelsea, however, suffered yet another setback.

The Blues risk dropping further down the table as Manchester United have a game in hand over Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri’s side came back to form after consecutive victories in the league and a first-leg win over Slavia Praha. However, Liverpool proved too hard for the Blues.

As Liverpool parted ways with the ghost of 2014, Andy Robertson almost brought it back as he slipped in the 82nd minute of the game. However, this time, Chelsea failed to capitalize on the chance.

Andy Robertson slip:

Andy Robertson received the pass but failed to control it properly, as he slipped.

Gonzalo Higuain took the ball immediately. However, the Argentine forward is no Demba Ba, and so, history couldn’t be repeated this time around.

Take a look at Robertson’s slip:

The slip didn’t cost Liverpool, and the Reds thoroughly controlled the game throughout the match. With this win, Liverpool are now a point ahead of Manchester City, but Guardiola’s side has a game in hand.

For the top-4 race, meanwhile, Manchester United have the opportunity to overtake Chelsea as they have a game in hand over the Blues. Solskjaer’s side will meet both, Manchester City and Chelsea later this month, so expect another dose of drama as the games against Manchester United might just decide the fate of the two clubs.

What next?

Liverpool will return to action in the Champions League action on Wednesday night as they take on Porto in the second leg of the tie.
