ARG-W vs AUS-W Dream 11 Team: Battle of the equals sees second and third placed sides battle it out for a spot in the showpiece tournament’s final

Argentina Vs Australia Semi-Final 2 FIH Women’s Pro League Best Dream 11 Team

A long, tedious and arduous journey in the FIH’s Women’s Pro League has finally come to its all important business end with the semi-finals set to regale us in an intriguing brand of hockey today. Beginning proceedings will be the second semi-final first with Argentina and Australia taking on each other for a shot at only the final but also assuring themselves of a direct qualification spot in the Japan 2020 Olympic Qualifiers.

Finishing in second and third place in the league standings respectively, both Argentina and Australia have enjoyed a solid and stable tournament. Argentina in particular have been massively impressive up till now with the world ranking four side losing all of two matches in their road till here, sitting comfortably in second place with the 38 points.

Elsewhere, although Australia are ranked a tier above them in the FIH rankings at 3, their inconsistency towards the closing stages of the league stage matches saw them slip up down to third place. They went on a wayward spiral, losing five matches out of their 16 to find themselves finish with 30 points, just the one above fourth place Germany.

Probable Winner

Facing off against each other today, the identity of the winner from this engrossing encounter is a difficult one to identify. Both the sides have endured similar kinds of tournaments with Australia scoring 35 goals as opposed to Argentina’s 31, seeing both the sides regale us in a riveting brand of scrumptious attacking hockey.

The one area where Argentina do hold the upper hand against Australia is the defensive side of the game. They’ve let slip in only 15 goals, less than one per match while Australia’s defeats in recent time were born out of their paper thin defence, one which lost its shape and cohesion to let the goals past them. We see this titling the scales in Argentina’s balance and they coming out of this skirmish of a match with a win.

Goal-Keeper for ARG-W vs AUS-W Dream 11

The one area of our team where we had no doubts was the goal-keeping department. There was only one obvious choice in the form of Australia’s Rachael Lynch, an outstanding shot topper who has imbedded in her technique, an application to keep our shots steadily and with a well versed intelligence.

Defenders for ARG-W vs AUS-W Dream 11

We have opted for only the three defenders for this match with us seeing both these teams upping their ante for this pivotal encounter. Argentina dominate our backline given the fact that they have conceded one of the least number of goals across all the 9 participating sides.

We’ve gone in with Silvina D’Elia and Valentina Costa from Argentina, two players who love taking centrestage for their side and are the mainstays of an extremely stringent and well disciplined defence. The two are responsible defenders, knowing fully well where to be positioned and how to put in immaculately times tackles, something which could curtail Australia’s awe-inspiring attack.

From Australia it Maddy Fitzpatrick who comes in for us. She’s continued waging a lone battle as her fellow defenders have dwindled, showing the requisite valour and will to keep imbedding perfect performances one after the other.

Midfielders for ARG-W vs AUS-W Dream 11

An equal distribution of players for us here with the four woman midfield being made up of two players from either side. We’ll begin with the selection from Australia first by getting in Jane Claxton and Lily Brazel into our team. This is undoubtedly the weakest area of Australia’s side but in these two players they have performers who can parry away the attacking threat of Argentina and help their side control an important part of the park.

On such problems for Argentina though with a plethora of finely honed midfielders lining up their outfit. We pondered over who the best two picks would be and have ultimately opted for Micaela Retegui and Eugenia Trinchinetti to bolster our side.

Forwards for ARG-W vs AUS-W Dream 11

The top scorers from both the teams make an advent in our side. With 6 goals to her name, all of them field goals, Australia’s Savannah Fitzpatrick has been quissential to her side winning with conviction, a player who has brought an influx of goals for her side.

Meanwhile from Argentina its Agustina Albertarrio who with the four goals has exulted her side and spectators in a seamless blend of hockey, seamlessly blending function with sublime grace. Supporting her ably has been Maria Grannato and she comes in as well for us

Captain And Vice-Captain

Silvia D’Elia from Argentina is chosen as our captain for this match while we have opted for Maddy Fitzpatrick to become our captain.
