Everyone in football has an opinion on Arsene Wenger these days. There are some who say the Frenchman is past it, while there are others who still believe in the great man. But no matter which side you are supporting, everyone can agree that the Arsenal boss is very frugal when it comes to transfer spending. That is why the reports of Arsenal bidding close to 100 million pounds for French sensation, Kylian Mbappe are scarcely believable. The Frenchman is a known admirer of the youngster, as Arsene Wenger believes Kylian Mbappe is a future Ballon d’Or winner.

This is what Wenger had to say in a recent interview about the hottest player in the summer transfer window,

Somewhere where he is sure to play.

“He thinks he needs to play, but I’d say the boy has made enough of an impression to be sure that a club who spends £100 million for you gives you the red carpet treatment. Nobody will buy a player for a £100m and say, ‘Come on, sit in the stands.'”

“You have the generation of players now between 24 and 28 years old who should come in next for the Ballon d’Or,” he said. “You have Neymar in there certainly, maybe [Antoine] Griezmann can come in, you have Mbappe.

“Mbappe is 18 so that will last a bit longer. A bit too early, too premature to say that he will do that but, yes, you have these kind of players. You have Ousmane Dembele, who I believe is an exceptional talent. These kind of players.”

While most people have scoffed at the reports, sources have claimed that Wenger himself is quite confident at signing Mbappe. For someone who has often been criticized for not showing enough ambition, Wenger could make a monumental statement if he could get the youngster’s signature.

This is one transfer story that could take a long time to complete.
