Ashley Young assist vs Cagliari: Former Man Utd captain produces inch perfect assist to Lautaro Martinez on Inter Milan debut.

Ashley Young made his move to Inter Milan earlier this month for £1.28 million and was immediately handed a debut by Antonio Conte. The 34-year old did not disappoint and took only 29 minutes to stamp his mark in the league.

Conte started Young at right back and he led Inter’s charge from the flanks. Within just under half an hour, Young finally whipped the perfect ball inside the box for Lautaro Martinez to head home to give his side the lead.

At Manchester United, Young was reduced to largely making substitute appearances at either side of the back. However, under Conte, Young is playing as a wing back at right; a more advanced position at the back allowing the former Manchester United captain to get forward more often.

A win would have taken the side just one point behind Juventus, who have a game in hand. However, the side failed to take the initiative and squandered the lead in the 78th minute when Radja Nainggolan equalised for the visitors.

To make matters worse for the side chasing Juventus, they lost Martinez to a red card in extra time before the close of play with the match ending at 1-1. Juventus now lead the league with 3 points and could further themselves by 6 points if they beat Napoli later in the day.
