The transfer window is always full of players being linked to new clubs and steps up from their current career. In the summer transfer window of 2018, Barcelona is one club that has been linked with an extremely high number of players.

The outfit based out of Catalonia is looking to strengthen several positions in the park, especially the midfield. Barcelona said goodbye to club legend Andres Iniesta and Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, who returned to Guangzhou Evergrande. Andre Gomes is expected to depart leaving the void of three midfielders left to be filled.

The Spanish champions have been relatively busy in the transfer window. They recruited Clement Lenglet from Spanish Super Cup opponents Sevilla. Two midfielders in the shape of Arthur Melo and Malcom were also signed by Ernesto Valverde.

Despite signing two great prospects who can run riot in the central part of the pitch, Barcelona feel the need to buy midfielders who have experience and can fill the void left by Iniesta’s departure.

Several names have been linked with a transfer to Spain’s major club. Those include Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Steven N’Zonzi, Willian, Thiago Alcantara and Adrien Rabiot. Another name can be added to that list, which is that of Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian is currently with Juventus, but having won domestic accolades in Turin, he is seeking new challenges. The Old Lady has insisted that the former Roma midfielder won’t be allowed to go for less than £85 million under any circumstances.

Miralem Pjanic has been a great addition to Juventus’ squad in the last two years and cashing him for £85 million could be fantastic business. The 28 year old already has under his belt, two Serie A titles and a Champions League runners-up medal among several other awards.

He could be a good addition to Barcelona’s squad keeping in mind his technical ability and vision while playmaking. Barcelona kick-off the defence of their La Liga title against Deportivo Alaves at the Camp Nou on the weekend of 18th and 19th August.

Before the opening fixture of the league, they shall play the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla on 12th August in Morocco.
