Barcelona transfer news: Jasper Cillessen accepts personal terms with Benfica but Barcelona demand more fee for the Dutch Goalkeeper.
Jasper Cillessen has been exceptional in the limited game-time at Barcelona but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s brilliance has thwarted the Dutch goalkeeper’s appearances on regular basis.
Thus, compelling Cillessen to look for better prospects elsewhere as his superior is indisputable first-choice for Barcelona.
According to a report by Goal, Jasper Cillessen has agreed personal terms with Benfica and is seeking a move to Portugal this summer.
However, Barcelona are not happy with the transfer fee offered by Benfica as the Portuguese club is willing to pay €15 million for the 30-year-old goalkeeper.
Whereas, Barcelona are demanding €25 million for the Dutch International, but lack of game-time with the Blaugrana club is not making the case stronger for them.
Additionally, Cillessen has shown his desire to leave the club after constantly remaining behind the German International in the pecking order.
Speaking to Ziggosport in April, he said: “After this season I will go on vacation first and then I hope to find a new club to get more playing time.”
Moreover, it seems that the player wants to seek more playing time as he is in to the last phase of his career and would not aspire to waste it on the bench.
Meanwhile he has remained first choice for his country, the 30-year-old is keen to earn regular playing time ahead of Euro 2020 next summer.
Cillessen’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2021 and Barcelona could turn negotiations in their favour by enhancing the transfer because of the longevity of his contract.
