The Barcelona star has assured the fans that he will not leave Barcelona for another European club

Lionel Messi has achieved every club and individual honour at FC Barcelona. His performances, game in-game out continue to mesmerise the spectators. While Ronaldo talked about the uncertainties regarding his future at Real Madrid, Messi has also opened up about his future at Barca.

In an interview given to ‘Passion por el Futbol’, the Argentine forward talked about his future plans in relation to football. “The more time that passes, the more I think that in Europe, I will only ever wear the Barcelona shirt,” Messi said.

However, the forward has also expressed his desire to play in front of his home crowd in Argentina. “I have always expressed the desire to return to play in Argentina, I do not know if it will actually happen, but the idea is there,” the Barcelona star added.

Messi started his footballing journey with Newell’s Old Boys before being scouted by FC Barcelona. He insisted that if such a move happens, he will only play for his former club. “It would be only to Newell’s Old Boys, for at least six months, then, no one knows what will happen,” said Messi.

Lionel Messi also asked the question about the idea of playing for Spain, saying that such a thing never crossed his mind. “A friend of mine told me that now I would be a world champion if I played with Spain, but it would not be the same for me,” Messi insisted.

Lastly, Messi talked about the possibility of winning the world cup with Argentina. “World Cup in Russia? We can not promise that we will win because we are not the best. We must watch teams from game-to-game,” said Messi. He insisted that the favourites for this world cup are Brazil, Spain and Germany.
