Barcelona’s tweet for Messi: Barca defend Messi after FIFA ‘The Best’ snub
After Lionel Messi wasn’t included in the FIFA ‘The Best’ shortlist, Barcelona’s tweet for Messi has become viral over the internet.
FC Barcelona on Monday came to the rescue of their skipper on social media by posting a series of tweets in order to get the FIFA Best player nomination drama fade away.
Lionel Andres Messi failed to get his name on FIFA’S top 3 contenders list for the BEST player of the year award. In a surprising yet expected turn of events, the Argentine and Barcelona skipper couldn’t join his fiercest rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah in the race for becoming the best.
Barcelona then took to twitter and posted a picture of their magical number 10 saying, “No doubt for Barca fans. He is the best. Period.”

They then came up with a series of videos of the Argentine’s interview from a day before in Barcelona where he was asked about certain moments of his football career at the club.
In the interview, Messi was quoted saying, “I am on the best team in the world.” This being proudly shared by the catalan giants in another tweet.

The 31-year old had a relatively forgettable season by his standards as per the titles tally as Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Roma in the quarter final stages whereas Argentina were sent out by the eventual champions France in the World Cup.
The statistics show a different story altogether as Messi managed to score a total of 48 goals in the 2017/18 season, leading the tally in Europe’s elite leagues.
FIFA’s nomination list for the BEST that came on Monday created a huge buzz online with football pundits and fans debating as to whether Messi should have been included looking at his individual counts or not.
