The Barcelona star, took on Alaves’ defence and found himself surrounded by 6 players and yet he braved a shot from 20 yards to curl a stunner past the keeper. Barcelona would go on to win the match 4-1 with Arturo Vidal, Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez also notching a goal each.

Earlier in the match, Griezmann opened the scoring before Vidal doubled their lead just before half-time. The visitors pulled one back in the 56^th minute before Messi all but sealed the game for Barcelona with his brilliance.

Barcelona are now 3 points clear off Real Madrid in the La Liga. However, Zinedine Zidane’s side still has a game in hand.

Barcelona who are looking to win a 3^rd consecutive La Liga will hope that Messi can continue his ferocious form that has seen him bag 13 goals on 13 games in the Spanish top flight this season. With the way he has been playing, it is not foolhardy to expect him to score another 50 goals in 2020.
