Bursaspor’s Iasmin Latovlevici scored a Puskas award worthy goal last night

Bursaspor’s Iasmin Latovlevici scored a Puskas award worthy goal last night in the Turkish League against Eskisehirspor.

The Puskas award is an award handed out by FIFA that recognises the most aesthetically significant, or “most beautiful”, goal of the calendar year. It is an award based on merit, disregarding the distinction of Championship, Gender and Nationality.

The Puskas is an award available to all regardless of name power and it usually goes to an absolute masterpiece. The nominations for the next award have been announced ahead of FIFA’s ‘The Best’ ceremony. However, an early contender for the next award has just been scored in the Turkish League.

Bursaspor’s Iasmin Latovlevici scored a Puskas award worthy goal last night

Bursaspor faced Eskisehirspor last night with the Green Crocodiles leading by a goal in the 91st minute. With 3 points in the bag, one would understand if Bursaspor would have preferred to play out the extra time and preserve their lead. Instead they went for the kill and Iasmin Latovlevici scored an out of this world goal to double the lead.

A quick free kick from the half-line was sent soaring up the pitch. Latovlevici sprinted into the penalty area and caught the ball in the air. He volleyed the ball into the back of the net with his first touch to score one for the ages.

The video has gone viral all over the internet with many claiming that the search for next year’s Puskas is over. What makes this even more bizarre is the fact that Latovlevici is not a forward but a left-back. He has only scored 15 goals in his entire senior career! However, it doesn’t matter much when one of your goals is as phenomenal as this.
