Arsenal’s transition phase has gotten off to a good start with the Arsenal board being efficient in the transfer market and getting in replacements that they absolutely need.

While, Leno and Lichtsteiner are already in the bag, deals for Torreira and Sokratis seem to be nearly completed.

With a few more transfer targets being worked upon, Arsenal are also extending contracts for their current players, so as to keep them at the Emirates under the new ‘Unai Emery reign’.

Callum Chambers seems to be on that list, as Unai Emery is ready to offer the ex-Southampton defender a new 4 year deal at Arsenal.

The young defender had signed a 2 year extension close to 11 months ago, but clearly Emery isn’t satisfied with that deal and is looking to lock him up for four more year.s

Chambers hasn’t really been able to cement a place in Arsenal’s XI, having also spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Middlesborough.

Arsenal have struggled with defensive frailties in the last few years and Emery is doing everything he can in order to ensure that Arsenal don’t leak goals this time round.

With Koscielny out of action until November this year, Chambers could finally get a long run in the Arsenal XI, something that he has been dying for for the last few seasons.

“Calum Chambers will today sign a new 4yr contract with Arsenal to keep him there until 2022. Only signed 2yr extension in Oct 2017 that tied him down until 2021 but new head coach Unai Emery sees huge potential in 23yo + wants him to compete for starting berth at centre-back” David Ornstein said.

Do you think Chambers will cement a place in the Arsenal XI?
