After an intense battle in the group stages, Dhaka Platoon and Chattogram Challengers now face off in the knockout clash at Sher-e Bangla Stadium in Dhaka slated to be played tomorrow. It was due to their inferior net run rate that Chattogram Challengers missed out on a top-two berth. Both Rajshahi Royals and Chattogram Challengers won 8 matches each and acquired 16 points. However, it was the Royals who eked out courtesy a superior net run rate.
On the back of a rollicking performance from Imrul Kayes, Chattogram Challengers played consistent cricket and ensured a 3rd spot finish in the points table. They will be hoping to put up a good all-round show in the all-important knockout clash. They will be wary of the fact that hiccup could end their run in the tournament. However, with some exceptional players in their ranks, Challengers will be hoping for a ball at the office.
On the other hand, Dhaka Platoons have had an indifferent season so far. Despite winning 7 out of of their 12 clashes so far, Platoon hasn’t been the best team out in the business. Their bowling unit has come under the scanner on occasions and on an important day, Dhaka will look to come out all guns blazing and put up a memorable performance. In all likelihood, a high intense clash could be on our hands later today.
Pitch Conditions and Toss
The Sher-e Bangla Stadium in Dhaka has predominantly produced sporting wickets. However, in the last few days, the pitch has been relatively on the slower side and batting hasn’t been pretty easy. The team winning the toss could be in dilemma about their choice. However, given the slowness of the pitch, batting first could be a wise option.

Chadwick Walton and Anamul Haque will be the two wicket-keepers in our dream XI team. Walton has been a pretty consistent run-scorer in the tournament so far. He has scored 299 runs in the tournament so far at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 147.29. He has also smashed 19 fours and 20 sixes in the tournament so far. On the other hand, Anamul Haque has also done a good job at the top of the order. Being an experienced guy and the captain of Dhaka Platoon, he will definitely look to come up with an innings of substance in an all-important day.
Chris Gayle and Imrul Kayes will be the first two batsmen in our dream XI team. Kayes is the leading run-scorer for the Chattogram Challengers in the tournament so far. He has scored 405 runs at an average of 57.86 and a strike rate of 132.79. On the other hand, Gayle has just joined the Challengers a few days ago. Given the impact of this man, a big knock can be expected from him on a big day.
Tamim Iqbal and Asif Ali will be the next two players in this segment. Tamim has been one of the premier batsmen in the tournament so far. The southpaw has scored 393 runs in the tournament so far and will look to continue the good work. Asif Ali had a few off days at the office. However, he has already shown his potential in the tournament so far and will look to put up a match-winning performance on an all-important day.
Mahmudullah and Mehedi Hasan will be the two all-rounders in our dream XI team. Mahmudullah has been an exceptional all-rounder for Bangladesh and made his presence felt in the previous clash against the Rajshahi Royals. He scored an unbeaten 48 against Royals and scored 58 against Dhaka Platoon in their last clash. Mehedi Hasan is another impressive young player who made an impact with an unbeaten knock of 68.
Mahedi Hasan Rana, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan will be the three bowlers in our dream XI team. Rana is 3rd in the list of the leading wicket-takers with 17 scalps from 8 matches. He has looked in exceptional rhythm in the tournament so far and will look to come up with a match-winning performance on a knockout day.
Faheem Ashraf hasn’t been in the best of form in the tournament so far. However, he is a class act and he should be hoping to redeem himself in the all-important clash. The last member of our dream XI team has slowly but steadily risen in his graph. Shadab Khan should be a very important bowler in today’s clash.
Captain and Vice-captain
Chris Gayle will be the captain of the day while Chadwick Walton will be the vice-captain.
