Champions League Round of 16 Which teams are most likely to clash in the next round

Champions League Round of 16: Which teams are most likely to clash in the next round? The draws will take place on Monday.

The Champions League group stages have concluded and we now have our last 16 participants who will now face each other in 2 legged knock out matches. Familiar names such as Liverpool, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid have made the cut. However, there have been some surprises in the form of Inter Milan and Ajax who will now compete in the Europa League instead.

The round of 16 draws on Monday will reveal which teams take on each other come February when the Champions league resumes. The draw will follow the same rules that have been followed in the years before.

Teams that have finished first in their group will be seeded while the others will be unseeded. The seeded sides will be paired with the unseeded teams and they will play the second leg at home. Seeded teams cannot be paired with teams from their home country or teams that progressed from their own group.

Even with these limitations, there are still at least 4 possible sides that each time can face in the next stage of the tournament. However, a graph from Reddit has now revealed that even among the various sides a team can face, the chances of drawing one team is still greater than the other. The math behind the probabilities of the draw are a little complicated but the graph help makes things easier to understand.
