Chelsea News: Kepa reveals the one Spanish Club he would consider leaving Chelsea for

Chelsea News: Kepa reveals the one Spanish Club he would consider leaving Chelsea for. The Blues shot stopper made the revelation on a Spanish title.

Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Chelsea last year for a record €80 million to become the most expensive goal keeper in the world. He has since proven to be worth the price as he’s been phenomenal for the blues between the sticks.

The 25-year old keeper has since become one of the top keepers in the Premier League and has replaced David De Gea as Spain’s first choice goal keeper. Kepa has relished his time with Chelsea, with whom he has won the Europa League already. However, he has now opened up on which club he would head to, should he ever leave the Blues.

Speaking to Spanish title El Chiringuito , Kepa said:

“Of course, I would like to return to Athletic.

“I don’t know when or how or what, but playing at Athletic obviously I’d like that. I have great memories.”

Kepa began his career at Athletic Bilbao. He rose through their youth system before establishing himself as a vital component of the first side. He represented the Spanish side until the summer of 2018 before making his big money move to Chelsea.

However, before the move Kepa was linked to Real Madrid as the then European Champions searched for a younger keeper to replace Keylor Navas. The Royal whites would eventually purchase Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and the Blues purchased Kepa instead.

Kepa said of the time:

“For several months my grandma saw more of me in the newspapers than in the flesh,” he said.

“There was a lot of talk about me. I was also injured for a while so it wasn’t a good moment for me. My contract was due to expire and from January onwards I was able to start talking to other clubs.

“I couldn’t see myself joining [another] club. I ended up renewing my contract with the idea of staying, but six months later I left. That was the only contraction.”

This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
