Both not part of India’s white-ball squads for an imminent series against New Zealand starting next week, Indian cricketers KL Rahul and Axar Patel have been relieved of the duties temporarily due to “family commitments”.

“KL Rahul & Axar Patel were unavailable for the New Zealand Home series due to family commitment,” read an official statement from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) last night.
Much like Rahul, reason behind granting a break to Patel is also supposed to be the same, i.e., marriage. Patel, who will turn 29 on Friday, had got engaged to girlfriend Meha Patel around the same time last year. If reports doing the rounds in the media are to be believed, Axar and Meha are highly likely to get married sometime this month itself.
Unlike Rahul and actor-girlfriend Athiya Shetty, news of Axar and Meha’s relationship had erupted only after their engagement. The couple is expected to tie the knot in a private ceremony before Axar joining the Test squad for the first two Tests against Australia starting from February 9.
Axar’s marriage will come at quite a special period in his life. Not only representing but the southpaw is currently contributing significantly to the Indian cricket team across formats. Assuming that injured all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t recover on time, Patel will surely be part of the Indian XI for the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy match in Nagpur.
Who is Meha Patel?
Meha Patel, fiancee of Axar Patel, is a qualified dietitian and nutritionist by profession. Meha has uploaded quite a few photos alongside Axar on her official Instagram handle. It is worth a mention that Meha has a separate professional Instagram handle where she has posted various diet plans and other nutrition-related information.
It was only this morning that Meha uploaded an Instagram story consisting of a throwback photo with Axar. The couple can be seen flying a kite together. Uttrayan, which is celebrated as a harvest festival in Gujarat on January 14, is famous for people flying kites from their terraces.
