“Today is a historic day in cricket as the bidding for teams of the inaugural #WPL broke the records of the inaugural Men’s IPL in 2008! Congratulations to the winners as we garnered Rs.4669.99 Cr in total bid. This marks the beginning of a revolution in women’s cricket and paves the way for a transformative journey ahead not only for our women cricketers but for the entire sports fraternity,” Shah tweeted.

Capri Global Holdings Private Limited
Capri Global Holdings Private Limited won the ownership right of the Lucknow franchise for a bid of INR 757 crores. Capri Global Capital is the parent company of Capri Global Holdings Private Limited. Capri Global are the partners of Gujarat Titans in the IPL, and they won the title last year as well.
Rajesh Sharma is the founder and MD of the Capri Global company. The team name of the franchise will be finalized later on, and there will be an auction as well ahead of the tournament.
Ashok Kumar and Ratanlal Agarwal are the other directors of the company. The popularity of the WIPL can be stated by the fact that the bid of INR 757 crores was the lowest among all the other bids.
