Originally slated to be played last year to getting postponed by five days due to COVID-related reasons, India’s tour of Sri Lanka has eventually begun today with the first ODI currently being played at the R Premdasa Stadium.
In Dasun Shanaka and Shikhar Dhawan, Sri Lanka and India’s respective captains are the ones who are leading in an ODI for the first time today.
Earlier, it was Shanaka who had won the toss and chose to bat in a bid to make optimal use of the batting-friendly conditions in Colombo. Contrary to their performance during the recently concluded tour of England, Sri Lankan batsman were much more confident in their approach towards the opposition’s bowling attack.

While a couple of them did literally throw their wickets away after looking impressive at one point in time, the onus is now again on Shanaka and Wanidu Hasaranga to stitch a solid partnership in the last powerplay and provide a competitive total for their bowlers to later on.
Commentators in SL vs IND 2021
India’s tour of Sri Lanka 2021 is available in four languages in India namely English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The international feed has a five-member commentary panel comprising of renowned commentators in Charu Sharma and Roshan Abeysinghe, former Sri Lanka batsman Russel Arnold, former India spinner Murali Kartik and former South Africa batsman HD Ackerman.

Sanjay Manjrekar, former India batsman and another ace commentator, is also available for commentary in English. Manjrekar is also joined by former India cricketers such as Vivek Razdan, Ajay Jadeja, Ajit Agarkar, Saba Karim and Mohammad Kaif.
Former India batsman WV Raman, who was most recently replaced as the coach of Indian Women’s team, is also part of the commentary panel alongside Vidyut Sivaramkrishnan and T Arasu. There’s a possibility of the trio calling the game in Tamil.
