Cricket hysteria in the form of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League is upon us with the first match set to begin from April 9. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will lock horns in the season opener in Chennai this year.

This season of the IPL will also have some lesser known players under the spotlight after they have been able to allure splurging amounts in the auction which was also held in Chennai in February.

Going by the history of the tournament, players who’ve fetched themselves opulent sums in the auction have mostly let their teams down due to multiple reasons. Despite players talking about not getting bogged down by their price tag in the past, there’s general notion that the same has an effect on on-field performances.
