Veteran Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez is isolating in the team hotel after inviting trouble in the form of his recent Twitter post. It is assumed that Hafeez will have to self-isolate until he returns a negative COVID-19 test. The right-hand batsman has been tested; result to which should be out by Thursday.
It all began after Hafeez posted a photo with a member of the public on his Twitter account. Not part of the Test side, Hafeez is in England to play three T20Is starting from August 28.
Players such as Hafeez have access to the golf course adjacent to the on-site hotel at the Ageas Bowl. It was during his visit to the golf course that Hafeez clicked a photograph with a lady.
“Met an inspirational Young lady today morning at Golf course. She is 90+ & & living her life healthy & happily.Good healthy routine,” read Hafeez’s tweet.

Mohammad Hafeez isolating after breaching biosecurity protocol
“This morning, Mohammad Hafeez went to a golf course, which is adjacent to the team hotel and part of the bio-secure bubble. During the golf round, he was photographed with a member of the public, which he subsequently posted on his social media account.
“As it was evident from the photograph that Hafeez had breached the two-metre social distancing protocol and following a consultation process with the team doctor, the team management has decided to isolate him until he returns a negative Covid-19 test,” read the statement issued by Pakistan Cricket Board.

It is worth mentioning that Hafeez was among the 10 Pakistani players who had tested positive for COVID-19 before traveling to England. The 39-year old player had got himself tested on his own on the following day to return a negative COVID-19 test. Hafeez and five other Pakistani players had landed in England on July 3.
