Fastest double century in ODI cricket: ODI double century by Indian cricketers full list

Ishan Kishan entered his name in the elite list of cricketers who have scored a double century in ODI cricket. He became just the 7th cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman to achieve this big milestone. (Update: Shubman Gill and Glenn Maxwell have now added their name in the list as well)

Bangladesh opted to bowl first upon winning the toss in Chattogram against India in the 3rd ODI, but they were not prepared for Ishan’s hammering. India lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan early, but Ishan and Virat Kohli then changed the game in India’s favour, where Ishan just dominated Bangladesh’s bowlers.

Ishan completed his century in 85 balls, but he went a step ahead after completing this milestone. He completed his double century in just 126 balls, which means he took just 41 balls to complete his next century. Kishan took a single on the last ball of the 35th over on Mustafizur’s delivery to complete the milestone.

Fastest double century in ODI cricket (Updated on November 8, 2023)

A total of 11 double-centuries have been made in the history of ODI cricket, and three of them have been made by Rohit Sharma only. Ishan’s century is the fastest double-century in the history of ODI cricket. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell scored the second-fastest double-century in the ICC World Cup 2023 match aains Afghanistan.

Ishan is the 4th Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma to achieve his feat. Tendulkar was the first player in history to score an ODI double-century, followed by Sehwag in 2011. Rohit’s first ODI double-century came in 2013, second in 2014 and third in 2017.

Scoring a double-century in ODI cricket is certainly a very big achievement, and the Indians have dominated the list.
