Hagley Oval ODI records India: India Hagley Oval records and all ODI match result list

If weather permits, New Zealand and India will enter the field at the Hagley Oval for the third and final ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in about 10 hours from now.

A series-decider by all means, all the stakeholders would be desperate for a result even in a potentially rain-curtailed match. Considering the number of international matches that have been washed out in the last month or so, one really wants to see players fighting it out in the middle to stake claim on a three-match series.

Currently in the lead, another rain-abandoned contest will aid the hosts in clinching the series just like weather gods helped India during the T20I series. An Indian victory, however, will prevent Shikhar Dhawan from losing his first series as captain.

Set to be the 16th ODI at the Hagley Oval, it will be first one involving India. As surprising as it sounds, the visitors have never played any white-ball match at this venue. India’s only appearance at the Hagley Oval had come in a Test match which they ended up losing by seven wickets 33 months ago.

With them not playing any ODI here, there is neither any scope for records with respect to the Indian team nor any result list.

AMI Stadium, Christchurch, which used to be host all international cricket matches in the city before Hagley Oval came into the picture, has hosted India on 11 occasions across formats.

While India had won and drawn a couple of Test matches each at the AMI Stadium back in the day, they had ended up on the losing side on each of their seven limited-overs matches in the city.

With their last match at the AMI Stadium coming 13 years ago, there is nothing but a solitary Test when it comes to India in Christchurch in the last decade. Barring wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant (12 and 4), no other Indian cricketer of the current ODI squad has ever taken part in a Christchurch fixture.
