Happy Birthday Harbhajan Singh: Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh and others post best birthday wishes for veteran spinner

Happy Birthday Harbhajan Singh: India’s most successful finger spinner is celebrating his 40th birthday today.

Veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh has turned 40 today. Fondly known as Bhajji, India’s most successful finger spinner is receiving plentiful heartening birthday wishes across social media platforms.

Having made his Test debut against Australia in 1998, Harbhajan had last played for India during the Asia Cup in 2016. Despite not playing at the highest level for four years, Harbhajan remains keen to represent India in T20Is.

In 367 international matches across formats, Harbhajan has picked 711 wickets including 24 five-wicket hauls and is India’s second-best bowler only behind former India Test captain Anil Kumble (956).

While his 417 Test wickets make him India’s third-highest wicket-taker in the format, his 265 ODI wickets see him as the fifth-highest wicket-keeper in this format.

A handy option with the bat, Harbhajan has 3,569 runs to his name at the highest level across formats including two Test centuries.

Harbhajan, who currently plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, is the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker (second-best spinner) on the back of 150 wickets in 160 matches at an average of 26.44, an economy rate of 7.05 and a strike rate of 22.49.

Also known for having views on prevailing matters, Harbhajan had recently opened up on the ban on saliva and players playing without spectators in the COVID-19 era.
