"He Pretends to Shoot it Like James Bond": Sachin Tendulkar Shares Hilarious Story of Vinod Kambli Trying to Impress Girls While Fielding in a Domestic Match

It was only in January last year when the legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar had wished former team India batter and his dear childhood friend Vinod Kambhi on his 50th birthday, and hilariously seeking his views on how it feels like to turn fifty years of age.

A year later, it is now Kambhi’s turn to perhaps ask his friend the similar question, as the ‘Master Blaster’ is also set to turn fifty years of age in just a couple of hours from now.

While Tendulkar’s countless fans have already begun with the celebrations well in advance, the Mumbai Indians had also made sure to have him cut the cake at this home ground at the Wankhede yesterday, during the MI vs PBKS IPL 2023 match.

Tendulkar had also marked his presence at a local event in Mumbai yesterday, where he had cut another cake on the occasion of him completing 25 years of his ever-famous knock in Sharjah against Australia, on April 22, 1998.

Sachin Tendulkar Shares Hilarious Story of Vinod Kambli Trying to Impress Girls While Fielding

It was during this particular event, that the ‘Master Blaster’ shared a hilarious story from his playing days involving Vinod Kambli, during a particular West Zone versus South Zone match in Rajkot.

Tendulkar remarked how there was this girls stand in the stadium, and Kambli, being an entertainer tried to impress them while fielding during the match.

Thus, when he took a high catch at the long-on fence to dismiss one of the batters, Tendulkar exclaimed that Kambli took off his hat, looked towards the girls, and gestured to shoot towards the ball akin James Bond.

“After taking the catch he removes his hat, he’s looking at all the girls, throws the ball up in the air and pretends to shoot the ball like James Bond,” Tendulkar hilariously describes.

It turns out to be a No Ball!

However, hilarity further ensued when Kambli, completely engrossed in the moment, did not realize that it was actually a No Ball, and the batters had completed three runs in the process.

Tendulkar exclaimed that since the crowd was so loud, Kambli could not hear him and the fielders yelling at him at it was a No ball. He further remarked that being the captain he was supposed to express his anger at Kambli, but he  just could not help but see the funny side of the entire incident.
