Only 24 overs of cricket was possible on the recently concluded fourth day of the second Test match between Bangladesh and India in Mirpur today. However, less than a session of action was intriguing enough to keep both the players and the fans on their toes due to the tight match situation.

Needing 100 runs to win the match and the series with six wickets in hand, India lost three wickets for 29 runs in the first half an hour or so to potentially stare at a maiden Test defeat against Bangladesh at one point in time.
That being said, a match-winning 105-ball 71-run partnership between batter Shreyas Iyer (29*) and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin (42*) ensured a 2-0 series whitewash keeping India’s unbeaten Test record against this opposition intact.
Nightwatchman Jaydev Unadkat (13) was the first Indian batter to be dismissed on Day 4. Playing his first Test in 12 years, Unadkat also ended up wasting a review. Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant (9) and all-rounder Axar Patel (34) were the next to return to the dressing room as Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed both the left-handed batters in successive overs.
It was at this very point that right-handed batters Iyer and Ashwin bailed India out of trouble. Knowing that all they needed was a brief partnership to dominate in a low-scoring thriller, the pair did just that before scoring the last 30-35 runs in an effortlessly free-flowing process.
While Ashwin was declared the Player of the Match for the ninth time in his Test career, Iyer was a tad bit unfortunate to have not won a maiden Player of the Series award.
