Merely a couple of days after hosting Sri Lanka in the third ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, India will be hosting New Zealand for the first of three ODIs in Hyderabad tomorrow. Set to host New Zealand in an ODI after more than half-a-decade, India will be playing an ODI against this opposition after exactly seven weeks which perfectly describes the extent of cricket they play against each other.

Two top modern-day teams haven’t really let each other dominate as far as their ODI head-to-head record over the years is concerned. Having said that, India have a one-sided domination when it comes to play this format against the Black Caps at home.
India, whose last ODI victory against the Kiwis had come almost four years ago, had ended on the losing side of their last five completed ODIs against them. The last two matches between these two teams, however, had been abandoned due to incessant rain in New Zealand in November.

Although New Zealand will be playing a total of six matches across the two white-ball formats on this tour of India, teams won’t be contesting for World Cup Series points. Hence, fans can consider both the series to be regular white-ball bilateral affairs with no larger objective to be achieved other than the fact they it will surely prepare them for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
