The first Bangladesh-India Test match will not only restart Test rivalry between these two teams after more than three years but also see them returning to the format in individual capacities after around six months. While Bangladesh had last played a Test in West Indies in the last week of June, India’s last Test in England was played in the first week of July.

In what is going to be the eighth bilateral Test series between Bangladesh and India, it will be sixth between them in Bangladesh. Yet to lose a Test match against Bangladesh, India have won six out of the previous seven Test series.
In spite of losing a three-match ODI series 1-2 in Bangladesh for the second time in a row, the visitors will still start this two-match Test series as the favourites. Set to enter the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium without regular captain Rohit Sharma, India should be able to flex their muscle in the ancestral format tomorrow onward.
