Seven white-ball half-centuries across 29 innings at the highest level did manage to portray India batter Ishan Kishan’s potential but hadn’t entirely justified his capability in the last 21 months.

It was only during his 31st international match that Kishan announced himself at the world stage on the back of scoring a maiden century for India. Playing his first-ever international match in and against Bangladesh, Kishan became the youngest cricketer to score an ODI double century.
Kishan, who ended up scoring 210 (131) with the help of 24 fours and 10 sixes, registered the fastest ODI double century. Fourth Indian cricketer to cross the 200-run mark in this format, Kishan scored the sixth-highest ODI individual score.
A record-breaking innings saw Kishan being part of a 290-run second-wicket partnership alongside former India batter Virat Kohli (113). In what became the seventh-highest partnership in the history of ODIs, Kishan and Kohli united to score the fourth-highest second-wicket ODI partnership and third-highest ODI partnership among Indian batters.
An archetype masterclass of an ODI innings by the 24-year old player was played majorly on selfless lines as he increased his speed of hitting boundaries after getting to a century. Been dismissed with close to 15 overs left in the innings, Kishan had immense scope to challenge the highest ODI individual score by regular India captain Rohit Sharma.
With intent being the talk of the town in limited-overs cricket of late, Kishan playing at a strike rate of 160.30 has already fueled talks of him replacing veteran opening batter Shikhar Dhawan in the full-strength Indian Playing XI.
