Ishant Sharma wickets: Indian pacer dismisses Moeen Ali and Sam Curran in identical fashion on consecutive balls at Lord's

Ishant Sharma: The senior Indian fast bowler converted his unplayable deliveries into wicket-taking ones at Lord’s today.

During the third day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England at Lord’s, India fast bowler Ishant Sharma used his experience to the best to dismiss England all-rounders Moeen Ali (27) and Sam Curran (0) on consecutive deliveries.

It was on the penultimate delivery of the 111th over that Sharma induced an edge of Ali’s bat as the ball traveled to India captain Virat Kohli at first slip. Bowling from round the wicket, it was the angle into the left-handed batsman which worked wonders for Sharma.

Kohli, who grabbed a praiseworthy low catch, had to wait for the final decision as the on-field umpires had decided to check if the ball was grounded or not. Replays subsequently confirmed that Kohli had completed a clean catch.

Coming in to bat at No. 8, Curran lasted for only a delivery as the southpaw ended up edging a Sharma delivery to Rohit Sharma at second slip in an identical fashion.

Having sent back England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler (23) in his second spell today, Sharma picking a couple of wickets in his third spell has given his team a bit of an advantage especially after England captain Joe Root’s 22nd Test century all but reducing the deficit for the hosts.
