Mitchell Marsh dismissal today: Tim Southee castles Marsh with pinpoint yorker in Wellington T20I
Tim Southee castles Marsh: The experience pacer from New Zealand had the better of the Australian all-rounder today.
During the fifth T20I of the ongoing Australia’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand pacer Tim Southee castled Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh to leave him clueless.
It all happened on the second delivery of the last over when Marsh wanted to up to the ante to give a boost to the Australian innings but it wasn’t to be. Wanting to take on Southee, Marsh completely missed the pinpoint yorker to lose his wicket.
Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 18th over, the right-handed batsman departed after scoring a lacklustre 10 (9) comprising of a six. Southee, on the other hand, picked another wicket in the form of Jhye Richardson (4) in the same over to register bowling figures of 4-0-38-2.
Barring a 66-run partnership for the second wicket between Australia vice-captain Matthew Wade (44) and captain Aaron Finch (36), the Australian innings never really got going after Finch won the toss and chose to bat. The two top-order batsmen’s contributions were the only positives from their innings in which they scored a below par 142/8 in 20 overs.
New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi, who had picked career-best bowling figures earlier in the series, was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers with figures of 4-0-24-3 including dismissals of Finch, Marcus Stoinis (26) and Ashton Agar (6) at the Sky Stadium.
